However, action speaks louder than bare talks. Recently, we have applied for FSC certificate to verify our products made with natural materials.
What is FSC?
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a global, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide. The FSC-certified materials, including but not limited to wood, are harvested from forests that are responsibly managed to prevent deforestation, socially beneficial to protect indigenous people's rights and communities, environmentally conscious to protect animal habitats, and economically viable. That is to say, products that are certified by the FSC meet the "gold standard" ethical production.
Why should we consider buying FSC-certified products?
All these hanging organizers feature strong boards to support the weight of your belongings safely and to keep the shelves from losing shape. They also have useful side pockets to hold your smaller items while giving you easy access to the contents. The elegant, minimalist style means they can be employed openly, and they will blend into your decor with ease. Ideal for storing sweaters, shirts, knitwear, pants, handbags, shoes, hats, socks, ties, etc. Also, they are all collapsible, meaning that they can be easily stored when not in use.
Forests are essentially the lungs of the planet Earth. They absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, produce oxygen to purify the air we breath, mitigate natural hazards like floods to prevent soil erosion, provide necessary habitat for wildlife to maintain biodiversity, and, last but not least, help curb climate change. Forests matter significantly!
According to the Global Forest Resources Assessment 2020 conducted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, forests cover 31% of the global land area. The legal and illicit logging of remaining primary forests to supply the growing demand for tropical wood products is a major source of deforestation. At present rates of deforestation, the last biodiversity-rich natural forests in South America, Asia, and Africa might be gone in a decade. If you want to contribute to the fight against climate change, considering buying sustainable products is a great idea.
Did you know?
FSC certification can also apply to non-timber products. Cork, rattan, bamboo, essential oils, nuts, mushrooms, fruits, honey, maple syrup, and even pig hair can be certified by the FSC, because they can be harvested from a forest. However, those materials do not include seagrass and water hyacinth. Why? Because they are harvested from water and even ocean.

Understanding FSC Labels
The FSC labels may be small, but they are incredibly powerful. Behind every FSC label, there is a product that supports sustainable forests, protects the benefit of the people dependent on forests, and maintains biodiversity. In all, there are three types of labels used on FSC-certified products. Scroll to understand and remember to check for the tree when shopping for sustainability.
- FSC 100%: All wood, fiber, and non-timber material used are virgin and come from FSC-certified forests.
- FSC Mix: The timber or fiber in a product comes from a mix of FSC virgin fibers and controlled virgin fibers or reclaimed/recycled fibers.
- FSC Recycled: The products is made from 100% recycled materials, which are pre- or post-consumer reclaimed wood, materials, or fibers.
Verify Products in FSC Database
If you want to confirm the authenticity of a product, you can track the product down in the Global FSC Certificate Database. Type any part of a license code, certificate code, local name, or organization name in the text box. Right click (on a computer) or press and hold (on a smartphone) and select Drill through > Certificate Detail in the brought up menu to get the full details. There you can see country of origin, company detail, certified product categories, tree species, etc.
Conclusion
When shopping for new home products, look for the FSC-certified seal to ensure that your products are ethically and sustainably sourced from responsibly managed forests. By choosing FSC-certified products, you can contribute to the preservation of our planet. Forests matter. Your purchases matter.
